Apple Brown Betty (Plant Based)

This is one of the easiest desserts to make on a boat – only nine ingredients (including water) and one hour of prep and cooking until a warm and delicious dessert is ready.

Ingredients

  • 5 apples sliced about 6 cups, I like to use Granny smith and I don't peel them but that is a personal preference.
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • TOPPING
  • 1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar to taste
  • 1/2 cup butter dairy or non dairy

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F
  • Place apple slices in ungreased baking dish (about 3 quart size)
  • Mix together vinegar, water, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg. Pour over apples.
  • Combine flour and brown sugar in medium bowl. Add butter and mix with hands until topping resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Spread over apples and press down lightly.
  • Bake, uncovered, for 40 minutes
